5 Benefits of Greek Yogurt

I recently started having Greek yogurt with cinnamon and apples and I cannot believe how obsessed I have become with the taste! My sweet tooth is satisfied and my body is happy - healthy really can be fun!
While munching on my arvo dessert I started wondering what the benefits of Greek yogurt really are. Yes, it's plain yogurt without the usual nasties but what can Greek yogurt actively do for my body?
Check out the list I've put together, and then give it a go (it's not as boring as you think!)
1. Reducing appetite
I can strongly attest to this - Greek yogurt is awesome at helping you feel fuller for longer, which means you're eating less throughout the day. If you're on your weight loss journey or trying to maintain your current weight, Greek yogurt is great for curbing cravings while helping you feel energised, uplifted and full.
2. Improved metabolism
When you are on your health and fitness journey you must always do things hand in hand - eat well and train consistently (in addition to managing stress, sleeping well, and all that good stuff). While Greek yogurt is unlikely to heal your metabolism on its own (without the exercise, a high protein diet, etc.) it may help the metabolism flow more efficiently due to its high protein content.
3. Natural probiotic - great for guts!
Greek yogurt is packed with probiotics to help the bacteria in your gut stay happy and balanced, improving overall gut health,
4. Improving mental health
Admittedly, this one surprised me. I cannot deny the incredible effects the yogurt has had on my overall mood and energy. I did a little research and a 2016 study found that simply consuming 100g of Greek yogurt daily led to decreased stress, anxiety and depression. That's powerful!

5. It's incredibly versatile
Greek yogurt isn't just good in a yogurt bowl but is an awesome supplement in many dishes. Just last week I saw a recipe for Greek yogurt CAKE (which I cannot wait to try).
