Welcome to the Chipping Norton 9km walk!

Let's talk about why we're here today.
The statistics are troubling. 

Aussies per day will, on average, take their own life.



Aussies will attempt to take their own life annually.

Suicide is the act of taking one's own life when one's mind and body experience is in severe misalignment with one's reality, and they perceive their circumstances as entirely hopeless.  In short, it means 65,000 people a year feel like there is no other way and that it is better to end their life. 

While we, as a society, have started heading in the right direction by bringing awareness to this very important issue there are still common misconceptions that make it hard to identify a loved one is having problems. We typically expect depression and anxiety to be overt, like this:

But quite often, a person who is experiencing depression and/or anxiety will hide behind a smile, a perpetual workload (distraction), an inherent need to constantly put others before themselves, or an addiction (food, alcohol, sex, work, television, social media - the list is endless). In the context of 2022 it is easy to numb the emotion or sweep things under the rug by turning on your favourite show (even if it's just white noise), or mindlessly scrolling through social media with the hope of momentary escape. A person who is struggling may in fact look more like:

The purpose of today is to find a deep-seeded connection with others, within ourselves and with our surrounding environment. This walk is designed to inform, educate and inspire physical movement as the central catalyst for true change in how we perceive ourselves, our loved ones, our co-workers, and so on.

Despite almost 75% of attempted suicides in Australia being by men, the stigma around men's mental health prevails. This organisation is doing its part to normalise mental health in men.


Headspace is an easy-to-use yet incredibly comprehensive network of information and tangible assistance that is great for when you feel you need to be heard or simply learn more.
